Pell Grants

A Federal Pell Grant, unlike a loan, does not have to be repaid. Federal Pell Grants usually are awarded only to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor’s or a professional degree.

The maximum amount awarded for the 2013-14 school year is $5,645.  The amount you get depends on your family’s economic situation as well as the tuition costs, if you are full-time or part time and if you will be attending school the whole year.

Certain eligibility limitations apply for former offenders. To receive this grant you must demonstrate significant financial need.

How to apply:
There is no direct application process for a Pell Grant; every student is considered after completing and submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA.
