Public Housing:

If you are interested in applying for the public housing programs administered by the Worcester Housing Authority, you must file a written application. The application must be filed at our Admissions Department located at 40 Belmont Street in Worcester.

To determine your eligibility you will need:

  1. Names of all persons who would be living in the unit, their sex, date of birth, social security number (if applicable) and relationship to the family head
  2. Your current home address and mailing address/ telephone numbers
  3. Family characteristics or circumstances that might qualify the tenant for selection preferences
  4. Names and addresses of your current and previous landlords for information about your family’s suitability as a tenant
  5. An estimate of your family’s anticipated income for the next twelve months and the sources of the that income
  6. The names and addresses of employers, banks and any other information the WHA would need to verify your income, assets and any applicable deductions

Application Process:

There are three ways to apply:

  1. You can apply online by making a  login, and then accessing the application. The link to the login is located HERE
  2. You can complete a preliminary application, and then return it to a participating housing authority. The link to the preliminary application is located HERE
  3. You may call the closest housing authority near you and request and application to be emailed to you.

You will receive preference for a WHA Section 8 Voucher if:

  • You live and work in Worcester.
  • You are a veteran, or the family of a veteran who’s death was a service related fatality.
  • Homeless persons, those living in substandard housing and those forced to move out due to no fault of their own also receive priority.
