The First Step Inn shelter serves homeless men and women in Fall River who meet the following criteria:
• 18 years of age or older
• Homeless in the City of Fall River
• Willing to submit to a search upon entry
• Willing to authorize a CORI check, CORI
• Report must be without warrants
• Alcohol and drug free
• Medically and psychologically stabilized
Services Provided:
• Guests at the shelter are required to engage in case management
meetings which result in the development of a Three Phase
Individual Service
• Plan designed to identify issues and refer guests to needed services.
Guests in the First Step Inn receive the following services:
• Food and nutritional assistance
• Safe and secure sleeping environment
• Comprehensive case management
• Housing placement assistance
• Psycho-educational groups
• Assistance with applications to income resources
• Crisis intervention
• 12 step meetings, and other AA/NA recovery related activities
• Residential substance abuse treatment access
• Outpatient substance abuse treatment access
• Coordination of emergency and long-term psychiatric care
• Referrals to community–based collateral services, educational,
medical care, domestic violence, and other forms of assistance
• Discharge and aftercare planning
