Worthington Shelter

Friends of the Homeless provides separate men's and women's overnight shelters, serving individuals 18 years of age and older every evening on its Worthington Street campus. No responsible individuals are turned away. FOH is recognized as the shelter of last resort for those individuals needing temporary overnight lodging as FOH facilitates the process to secure permanent housing.

The men's shelter is located at 769 Worthington Street in Springfield. This shelter is for single men 18 years of age or older.

The women's shelter is located at 755 Worthington Street. It provides overnight shelter for single women 18 or older.

Shower and laundry facilities are available for our shelter guests. Both men's and women's shelters open for the evening at 5:30 p.m. Beds are assigned as they become available. There is usually a waiting list for beds and floor space is limited. All check-ins must be completed by 8 p.m. unless special arrangements have been made (employer's letter, medical emergency,etc.) If you do not check in on time, your bed may be given to the next person on the list. Individuals new to shelter should attempt to have a phone interview in advance of their arrival. Counseling, Nursing and Dental Care. Day programs. Storage facilities. Three meals a day. There is a 9 PM curfew. Stay can be unlimited.
